“Our son has improved immensely in the way he interacts with people and has become more relaxed in company. His reading and writing have also improved and he can recognise a large number of words”
Coleg Elidyr is a residential Camphill Community College providing further education and training for young people aged 18-25 with learning difficulties and disabilities. Founded in 1973, Coleg Elidyr has many years’ experience of working with young people with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities, behavioural and emotional difficulties and autistic spectrum conditions.
“We have been impressed by our daughter’s improvement in life skills and how she has learnt to manage emotions. She has come a long way, this is due to the Coleg’s fantastic teaching, and general ethos”
Coleg Elidyr provides a safe learning environment set within 180 acres of farmland in the secluded Towy Valley. As well as learning crafts in workshops and retail in our on-site shop, there are land-based opportunities on our working farm, garden and forestry. Our curriculum is inspired by the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner and designed to enable the learner to move from doing to understanding and from experience to knowing.
“He is becoming more secure to make steps towards leading his own life, more independent … he is emotionally growing up”
Our aim is to foster the development of the whole human being – body, soul and spirit – so that each individual will develop the self-confidence to cope with adult responsibility and be able to lead a richer, more independent life.
“His basic skills are beyond what we thought he could achieve … He is proud of himself.”
Our quotes are all from students parents, taken from our annual parent questionnaires. Thank you to all parents for your kind comments.
